Cave Capers 2024
Cave Capers 2024 will be the 71st annual gathering. Cavers from all over the United States will come together in Indiana on August 15-18, 2024 at Camp Rivervale. There will be caving, music, food, gear vendors and lots of catching up with old friends.
The theme this year is Mystic Misfits: Cryptids of the Caving World. We encourage all creative cryptid costumes on Saturday night, the winner might even win themselves a prize.

Located in the southern region of Indiana near Spring Mill State Park, Camp Rivervale has been host to Cave Capers many times and we are excited to return again.
Tent camping is included in your registration fees, but if you wish to bring an Camper/RV (with or without hookups) or wish to rent an on-site cabin you will need to reach out to Pam Tedrow at Camp Rivervale to pay additional fees. She can be reached at 812-849-6824. These sites are first come, first served and are limited in quantity.

The Gauntlet is a volunteer run technical Alpine Single Rope Technique ropes course that will challenge any cavers to learn, expand or refine their vertical skills.
While the team does have some loaner gear, please be sure to bring any vertical gear you may have - including your chest harness, seat harness, ascenders, cows tails, and descender. And don't forget your gloves and helmet!

Catering will be provided by Bedford's own Cedar Hill Catering. If you choose to participate in the banquet you will get a choice of: Pulled Pork BBQ, Baked Chicken, or Vegetarian Lasagna for your main dish. Sides will be a tossed garden salad, cheesy potatoes, baked beans, and roll. With a drink choice of Sweet Tea, Unsweet Tea or Lemonade. For dessert we will have turtle brownies and assorted cookies. Yum, that sounds tasty.
Don't forget to purchase your banquet tickets ahead of time, we will be unable to honor any banquet sales after pre-registration closes.

Toxic Frog Cave Gear is based out of Mooresville, Indiana and owned by fellow caver Vince Murdock. Toxic Frog has been making caving and climbing gear and doing repairs since 1993. Head on over to see Toxic Frog during Capers for your rope pad, chest harness, and rope bag needs! He also does repairs and custom gear, just ask!
Notes and Helpful hints for Capers
Please be aware that pets are not permitted on the premises at any time for Cave Capers 2024. Also, open containers are not permitted in common areas at Camp Rivervale, please respect the rules of our gracious host site.

Additionally, the shelters on property are not free for our use, but there are a few that are not reserved currently, if you wish to rent one, you can call Pam for those as well. Campfires are only allowed in elevated fire pits. These must be brought as there will be none available on-site.
We will have a limited number of banquets, koozies, shirts, and guidebooks available for sale at registration. First come, first serve. Once they are gone, we will be taking shirt orders for a future printing. But these items will have to be picked up at a grotto event or shipping will be charged to get them to you.
